Hamburg, Germany – June 2024

Fybra, the cleantech in indoor air quality and energy efficiency solutions, in partnership with PHYWE, a renowned educational resource provider, proudly announces the launch of their first German educational interactive exercise, “CO2 Concentration,” as part of the Fybra Lab learning pathway. Now available on the German Curriculab platform, this exercise marks a significant step in transforming classrooms into dynamic laboratories, enhancing STEM education across Germany.

Fybra

Gaetano Lapenta, CEO and Co-Founder of Fybra, shares the vision and inspiration behind this groundbreaking initiative: “Learning by experience is one of the most effective ways to grow and understand the world around us. This principle has been the foundation of Fybra since its inception. Our journey began with a personal challenge—improving indoor air quality in schools for my daughter’s health. This led to the development of our patented technology, which optimizes ventilation rates and enhances learning environments. Our mission is to support educators in delivering STEM education, fostering an interdisciplinary approach to civic education, and enhancing students’ mathematical skills through data analysis and scientific experimentation.”

About the Exercise

Objective: The “CO2 Concentration” exercise aims to develop students’ understanding of fluid dynamics, data analysis, and the scientific method through practical experiments. It helps students learn how to calculate air exchange rates in a room using CO2 concentration, thereby quantifying air flow during window openings.

Skills and Knowledge: Students will gain knowledge in:

  • The scientific method
  • CO2 measurement
  • Basics of fluid dynamics
  • Descriptive statistics
  • Theory of errors

They will also develop critical skills in:

  • Data analysis
  • Problem-solving
  • Experimental techniques

Experiment Details:

  • Setup: Students will calculate their classroom’s volume, connect to the Fybra platform, and configure the experiment under various conditions.
  • Execution: The experiment involves measuring CO2 levels, analyzing data to determine air exchange rates, and understanding factors influencing air quality.
  • Analysis: Students will formulate hypotheses, conduct the experiment, and draw conclusions based on their findings, enhancing their understanding of scientific principles.

Impact and Future Plans

This exercise is the first of many that Fybra and PHYWE will introduce, covering topics related to the environment, physics, mathematics, and STEM education. These exercises are designed to provide students with hands-on learning experiences that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications.

Fybra’s Mission: At Fybra, we believe that every class should be a lab. Our data-driven solutions enable students to engage deeply with scientific concepts, fostering a learning environment where practical application and critical thinking are paramount. With our advanced sensors and predictive algorithms, we ensure that educational environments are not only healthy and energy-efficient but also conducive to learning.

Availability on Curriculab: The “CO2 Concentration” exercise is available on the Curriculab platform, a comprehensive digital science teaching and learning resource. Curriculab offers a wealth of predefined, curriculum-compliant content for physics, chemistry, biology, and other science lessons, making it an ideal tool for educators.
