Now available on the German Curriculab platform, this exercise marks a significant step in transforming classrooms into dynamic laboratories, enhancing STEM education across Germany.

About the Exercise

Objective: The “CO2 Concentration” exercise aims to develop students’ understanding of fluid dynamics, data analysis, and the scientific method through practical experiments. It helps students learn how to calculate air exchange rates in a room using CO2 concentration, thereby quantifying air flow during window openings.

Skills and Knowledge: Students will gain knowledge in:

  • The scientific method
  • CO2 measurement
  • Basics of fluid dynamics
  • Descriptive statistics
  • Theory of errors

They will also develop critical skills in:

  • Data analysis
  • Problem-solving
  • Experimental techniques

Experiment Details:

  • Setup: Students will calculate their classroom’s volume, connect to the Fybra platform, and configure the experiment under various conditions.
  • Execution: The experiment involves measuring CO2 levels, analyzing data to determine air exchange rates, and understanding factors influencing air quality.
